A Montessori Christmas

Last week was LM's Christmas program at school. After weeks of practicing at school and home, his time in the spotlight came...and he froze. Actually he didn't freeze at all, but instead of singing and dancing with the rest of the kids, he ignored the fact that he was even on stage and proceeded to treat it as a normal situation. It didn't really surprise us. He doesn't even sing with us, so singing with a large group of kids on stage wasn't going to happen. So he just stood there, waved to me and Bill, looked at the other kids, etc. He had zero stage fright, just no interest in singing. Each class performed 3 songs, and then they all came together at the end. LM really outdid himself then. Instead of just standing there, he decided to have a seat.
Despite all that, we were still thoroughly entertained. Lucky for us our friends Amy and Nathan came to support LM. Afterward we all went out to dinner to celebrate his first theatrical performance. It was a night to remember.(Oh, and the snowflake costume was a huge pain to make. I know it really isn't much, but for me it was pretty much torture. I hate making costumes. I'm still not sure why I had to make it--I mean I'm not the one in preschool.)

I think you did a great job on the costume. Jackson's program is this Thursday. He sings all the time at home but has told us that is the only place he will do it. Great pictures too!

The snowflake couldn't have been more difficult than the chocolate butterflies! I think it looks great...

Perfect! I love watching the kids who stand up there and act like it's no big deal. Or, the kids who stand up there and scratch themselves. Get those everytime too. Just as long as it's not my kids.

I'm with you on the costume making. I need to turn one of my daughters into Mary, and the other into an angel by Saturday. I'm not excited.

I have to say that I WAS really sorry to miss this event...but now that I see that it got me out of some major costume making, maybe I'm not so sad afterall! LOL.
