On my way home

We finished our bike riding! Riding into our hotel yesterday was the best feeling ever. It was our hardest and longest ride of the trip, so it was a huge accomplishment. It felt even better knowing we had finished! After cleaning up at the hotel (and some pool time), we went to the beach for a seafood bbq and serious dancing. It was another amazing night, except this time with the ocean right at our feet. A huge bonus was staying up late because we didn't have to get up at 4:30 the next day! The whole celebration was a little bittersweet knowing that our journey was complete.

The bike riding the last three days was quite a feat. The distances weren't too bad (about 50, 55, and 60 m) but with the heat and road condition it is pretty slow going. The last day we had some serious hills the last 30 m, but it was so much fun! I got super dehydrated, so I was basically in pain for the last three days. My body basically just overheated and would not cool off. I couldn't eat or drink at all, and I felt nauseous the whole time. It was a horrible experience, but I managed to stay on my bike all except for one 9 m leg. I was really disappointed to not ride the entire trip, but I think I made the right choice in hindsight! Sometimes I can be a little stubborn :) It basically took a friend walking by me, touching my skin, and telling me I could not ride. I was on fire (think becoming a vampire in the Twilight series!)--literally my skin was so hot.

I still have a little while before I make it home--it is quite a long journey. I will be spending tomorrow in Korea at a spa, and then the long flight home. The yucky part is spending two nights on a plane. Tonight I fly to Korea; tomorrow home.

I think you win the prize for "best attitude ever!" All in one breath, you tell about severe dehydration, nasty hills/heat/road conditions, and then say, "it was so much fun!!" So glad to hear you had the experience you wanted. Also, glad to hear you stopped being stubborn and took a little break. I can't wait to hear all about it. Have fun at the Korean Spa! How exotic.

Congrats Becca!! At least you get to sit on the plane and relax a bit for a few days. Thanks for journaling your trip for all of us to read. Awesome stuff!
