Karma

A few years ago right after we had LM, Bill did a short stint as a waiter at TGIF. He always worked nights because I had school/work in the mornings. Most nights ended between 12-2 a.m. Because we only have one car, Bill would usually bike home after his shift. With a new baby, it didn't make sense to have me come and pick him up in the middle of the night.

One of these lovely evenings, Bill supposedly called me waking me from my slumber (I do not remember this conversation at all). He told me he had a flat tire, and he needed a ride home. I told him I was sleeping and hung up. He decided that rather than push me and force me to drive in an obviously sleepy state, he would just walk home with the bike. Fridays was in Provo; we lived in North Orem. Basically he had to walk 7 miles home, and (according to him) it took forever!

Basically everyone gave me a hard time for the whole thing, and I insisted I was innocent because I have no memory of the night at all! He could have called back!

Well, today I was out on my bike ride thinking how wonderful life was because there wasn't as much wind or rain as on Monday. I was about 10 miles from home when I felt the all to0 familiar bump of a flat tire. Obviously this should be an easy fix because most bikers carry spare tubes with them. Of course I don't because I don't even know how to change a flat tire. In fact I have resisted learning on several occasions out of sheer laziness. I thought no big deal, I will just call Bill. Three phone calls later and still no Bill! I knew he would call me eventually, but I didn't know how long it would be...so I started to walk. As I walked the above story came back to me in full detail. How appropriate that now I received my own just punishment. I had to call someone about it, so I called my bf/cousin Sarah, and we laughed about the silliness of my situation.

Eventually Bill did call back, and I only ended up walking with my bike for about 30 minutes, but I do have a bruise from where my bike pedal kept catching on my left leg. I see a lesson in tire changing in the very near future.

Ha! That is so funny! Glad to hear you didn't have to walk 10 whole miles. Time to learn the flat lesson!

I love it! At least it wasn't at 2 am, right?!

That's funny! Are you sure Bill wasn't just ignoring your call for a while?! A little payback!

That stinks! I'm glad you got home safe though (and that there wasn't 2 feet of snow on the ground :)
