Accomplishment

It may not be the most important thing I've done, but it still feels good. Today I deep cleaned the "pantry" or rather the cupboards that house our food. I wish I had remembered to take before pictures, but you will just have to imagine the chaos that results from a male being the primary chef for about 2 years.

This project was just one small piece of the big project I have planned for the week--deep cleaning the house. I have been doing a "deep clean" of my room/apartment/space every 6 months pretty much ever since I can remember. A deep clean is different from a "quick clean." (Both of which are technical terms in our household.) A deep clean basically means cleaning every surface of every item in the house. In the kitchen, for example, I wipe out every cupboard and reorganize. I also wipe the front of all the cupboards (especially annoying with white cupboards!) from top to bottom and everything in the cupboards. I completely clean out the fridge/oven/dishwasher/etc. I wipe down all the walls, floorboards,...every surface. It is a very detail oriented project and takes at least a week to do right. But at the end of the day I feel clean! A guest to the house would probably have no idea I had done anything special.

I'm sure you'll be excited to see the rest of my updates throughout the week...yes one of the most exciting things in my life right now is cleaning my house.

Becca - my address is. . . come over any time. Deep cleaning every six months? Wow. I need a little of that motivation. Good job.

I love the feeling after cleaning like that! I did one last year where my total goal was to see how many bags I could take to Goodwill/dump/consignment stores. I took more than SIXTY bags of stuff out of my house! It was so completely gratifying. Have fun.

Wow, Amy...60 bags?? Good job Becca! Love the deep clean -- but I could definitely stand to do it more often! You're an inspiration. :)
